SUPPORT FOR HYGIENE AND EDUCATION THROUGH THE CONSTRUCTION AND FITTING OUT OF SCHOOLS.
We have been working in Laos since 2007, where we have built 25 schools and high schools in the remote Champasak Province in the south of the country. We are now educating 3,700 isolated children on the Boloven Plateau in decent conditions.
The level of education in this country is very low and the material conditions of the schools are disastrous (dilapidated buildings, lack of pedagogical material etc.). Each school built by Mission Enfance receives the prior agreement of the Education Department. 265 schools still need to be built or renovated on the Plateau des Boloven.
The two years of the pandemic have been economically trying for this small, confined and closed country. With the situation still not contained, schools are opening in fits and starts, affecting children's education. We will continue to provide emergency aid to students and families in Laos as well as to our teachers (most of whom are untenured and do not receive a salary).
In 2022 we will build three schools (kindergarten, primary and high school) on the Boloven Plateau in the south of the country. In Laos, hygiene is a fundamental problem to which Mission Enfance tries to respond by training during the distribution of hygiene kits in schools. In the same way, we distribute school kits in each of the schools we build, as well as sports equipment.
Below you will find the film of the inauguration of our secondary school in Pa Ao, in the Champasak region, on 10 July 2020, for 100 students from the south of Laos who also received their school kit and hygiene kit to continue their education in decent conditions :
